ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Dawn — the founder and creator behind IV May Creations.

I was born and raised on the beautiful Isle of Wight, where I still live with my family today. Creativity has always been a huge part of who I am. As a child, I was always making, designing and attending arts-and-crafts clubs, and I loved baking cakes with my mum, who is also incredibly creative.

My passion for art and design continued throughout school, where I chose Art and Graphics as my GCSE subjects. I then went on to study a BTEC National Diploma in Graphic Design, alongside an extension course in Art and Design. Even then, I knew that being creative would always be part of my future.

After becoming a mum, I started my own cake-making business, creating birthday cakes, wedding cakes and cakes for all kinds of special occasions. I loved the whole creative process, especially designing the little details that made each cake feel personal.

However, after having my third child, I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. As much as I loved making cakes, the physical side of cake-making became too much for me to manage. I didn’t want to give up on something I loved, so I decided to focus on the part I enjoyed most — creating the beautiful decorations that bring cakes to life.

Taking a leap of faith, I invested a few hundred pounds into flower stock and began making cake flower arrangements and decorations from home. It was a risk, but it worked. Every penny I made from those first orders went straight back into the business, allowing me to slowly grow my stock, develop new designs and create the business IV May Creations is today.

What began as a small idea has grown into something I am incredibly proud of. I still love turning an idea, colour palette or special occasion into something personal and beautiful, and every order is designed and carefully prepared by me with genuine love and attention to detail.
